This gift shop launched Lynn Valley into village life when it was one of the first establishments to open in the library square. Now you can find it inside Lynn Valley Mall – and it’s still a great place to find gifts and treats for friends, family members … or yourself!
What do customers like most about Red Tulip?
Our ever-changing product selection, featuring many local talents and Canadian-made products. Plus, we have a fun atmosphere and offer complimentary gift wrapping. The Red Tulip business has also placed in the North Shore News’ Readers Choice Poll for Favourite Gift Shop!
What do you notice about your customers?
We like that our customers like to shop local; we feel supported here. Many people comment that we have a great selection that caters to all tastes and budgets. We see a lot of repeat faces, which allows us to get to know our customers on a more personal level; their input and suggestions are always appreciated.
Do you have a tip for us?
Never admit to that new purse or jewellery; just say “You never notice anything, I’ve had this for years!”
Can you tell us about any other ventures or accomplishments?
Lynda came from an office background working at Benndorf-Verster (don’t ask me to do the jingle!) I also paddled on the Deep Cove Dragon boat team, Insink, and yes, I have medals. Janice has a home-based hair salon, and has a Dental background as well – with some figure skating thrown in on the side!
And we are both moms to teenagers. That is a serious accomplishment!
Does that allow time for any hobbies?
Janice likes hiking with her dog, figure skating, cooking, and baking.
Lynda enjoys the outdoors, hiking, skiing, and boating.
What about community involvement?
We support many local school fundraisers as well as charities. We are members of the Lynn Valley Community Association as well as the Lynn Valley Village Merchants Association. We have continuously sponsored the Summer Concert Series, along with many community events here in the Lynn Valley Village.

Lynda is a hockey fanatic. I never miss a Canucks game, Go Canucks Go!!
Janice makes a lot of jewellery for the store – a hidden talent for sure!

A happy customer is your best advertisement.
Any future plans or possibilities?
Making The Red Tulip a household name, with the possiblity of other locations. We also want to expand our online business.
