Neighbourhood News – August 2018

There are still a few weeks left for some fun summer activities and adventures before it’s back to school time. July was a warm one and August started off slightly cooler and although we’re in the midst of another heat wave, some rain and reprieve should be coming this weekend. Stage 1 water restrictions are still in effect and can change quickly in August when there’s a lack of rain. Check the North Vancouver District site regularly for updates.

With summer fruit ripening in many Lynn Valley yards, be sure to keep bear awareness on your mind. Find out more in our article below. And it is sadly (or maybe happily) time to start thinking about back to school and Fall planning, we’ve got the scoop on some upcoming registration dates.

School’s out for summer! The weather is starting to heat up and life is hopefully slowing down for everyone. Discover some great things to do in Lynn Valley below to fill the long sunny days and evenings.

The countdown to Lynn Valley Days is on: a few tickets for the Friday night Gala are still available but be quick! Please note Lynn Valley Road will be closed Sat. June 16th from 9:15-11:15 am during the parade, and detours will be in place. Join us on the field afterwards for lots of rides, games and family fun!

Winter sure has made it’s mark through February, I think we are all ready for the snow to fall on the mountains only and more warm sunny days to come our way.

Well, the long stretch after the holidays is almost over and hopefully the Family Day long weekend will bring some much needed downtime for everyone. Right on its heels, comes Valentine’s Day celebrations to spread some love around.

We hope that everyone heading back to school or work this week (or last!) is feeling refreshed from a happy Christmas that included some good “down” time with family and friends. Our very best wishes to you and yours for 2018!

The first weekend in December is always a special one in Lynn Valley, featuring the seasonal light-up of Mollie Nye House and the Christmas trees in Lynn Valley Village. This year was no exception, with many local residents coming out to have fun and join in the grand countdown to turning on the thousands of sparkling lights.
