Open Houses to feature
newly announced
highway projects

The LV Community Association recently hosted a traffic information session with local government representatives, and not surprisingly there was a full house in the Mollie Nye basement! Here are some excellent notes from that meeting regarding a number of local hot spots; now, in light of the recent announcement about new funding that will allow traffic bound for the Ironworkers bridge to be separated from local east-west traffic, two Open Houses have been scheduled for February 21 and 25, hosted by the Ministry of Transportation. More details and links are in our blog post.

Too much of a
good thing?

It's the day after Valentine's Day, and you have a chocolate hangover. Perhaps we aren't built for too much pleasure. The topic of this month's Philosopher's Cafe in Lynn Valley Library is "How much pleasure is too much?" If you're intrigued, come and weigh in on Wednesday, Feb. 15 at 7 p.m. All welcome to this free discussion! Details here

Put it on your calendar!
LV Days Logo
No doubt the Farmer's Almanac, a Magic Eight Ball and other sources of wisdom have been consulted to determine the best chance for a sunny and successful Lynn Valley Day, and the answer for 2017 is....
Saturday, June 17th!
Please put this date on your calendar now, and start dreaming up your parade entry!

Give the world a little love!

From early glimpses of sun-kissed crocuses to snow-laden cedars, the first days of February have been lovely - and as opposite from each other as the polarizing political debate on Facebook and Twitter!

We bring that up just as a reminder that politics - the governance of society - begins in our own community.  The friendships we build with our neighbours, the values we model in our dining rooms and our council rooms, and the amount to which we give our attention to the work of the common good will ultimately have ramifications at every level of government.

So please consider this our annual pitch to consider involving or re-involving yourself in the civic life of Lynn Valley. Whether it's joining a community group, shovelling a new neighbour's walk, or just listening to someone's story, there is something each of us can be doing to build bridges instead of walls. Consider it your Valentine's Day present to our community!
