The ultimate 2023 summer bucket list for Lynn Valley

June 27, 2023

You don't need to look far for summer fun, adventure and a few ideas to fill up all those summer hours. We have some pretty fantastic options to beat the heat, spray up some fun and just try something new in the neighbourhood.

Some family bucket list ideas

1‘Late night’ treatsPJ the kids up and then hit your scooters or bikes and head down to Dairy Queen (closes at midnight or later) or Mountain Market (closes most nights at 7:30 p.m.)  for a ‘late night’ ice cream or candy run.2Hit the poolKaren Magnussen is a great place to cool off and take a break from the outdoors. Throughout the summer watch for special events like big waves or water blaster afternoons.3Grab a rodHead up to Rice Lake and try your hand at fishing. It is one of Metro Vancouver’s lakes stocked with trout (the last release was 1150 fish in June). If you are new to angling there are often people willing to offer tips and tricks and share their love of fishing while trying their luck on the fishing dock. This is also a great trail for families - the bike-free and dog-free trial can be a safe haven for toddlers.4Embrace the nightTake a walk through our forests. Pick up a glow stick, and pack a headlamp but head outside at dusk through our network of neighbourhood trails. Listen to the forest, breathe and slow the day down. It is a great way to cool off and you may experience Lynn Valley in a way you have not - just steps from a local street.5Get groovin'The popular neighbourhood Live and Local concert series is returning again to Lynn Valley Village. Each week there are free events hosted by the North Vancouver Recreation and Culture.  Big Games on Mondays and Wednesdays from 1-3 pm, mid-day music Tuesdays from 11 am-1 pm, and some Fridays and Thursdays.
