Reimagining the Lynn Valley Village Plaza

May 5, 2026

The District of North Vancouver is looking at ways to reimagine the Lynn Valley Village plaza and turn it into a space where more people want to gather, relax, and spend time.

Located at the intersection of Lynn Valley Road and Mountain Highway, the plaza has been part of the community since 2007. The space is anchored by the North Vancouver District Public Library Lynn Valley branch and includes retail stores, office space, a community room, and the outdoor plaza area that many residents pass through daily. Now, the District says the space is due for revitalization.

The municipality recently asked residents for public feedback through a community survey focused on how the plaza could become more vibrant and better used. According to the District, the goal is to encourage more activity in the village while creating a destination people actively choose to visit.

“We’re working to reimagine the plaza at Lynn Valley Village, as the space is due for revitalization,” the District states on its website. The feedback process asked residents to share ideas for events, activities, gathering spaces, and features that could make the plaza feel more welcoming and engaging for the Lynn Valley community. District of North Vancouver business and economic development manager Neonila Lilova told North Shore News that council directed staff in 2023 to explore ways to improve how the village space is being used.

“Our main goals are to encourage more retail traffic, enhanced use of the shared spaces, and create a destination where people want to congregate and spend time,” Lilova said.

The District is also working with a consultant to review how the plaza and surrounding public spaces are currently functioning. For many Lynn Valley residents, the plaza already acts as an informal meeting place. Families stop after library visits. Students gather near the seating areas. Community events occasionally bring larger crowds into the village. But outside of busy weekends and seasonal events, parts of the plaza can still feel underused.

The revitalization discussion comes as Lynn Valley continues to grow and change. More families, businesses, and visitors are moving through the area than when the village first opened nearly two decades ago. The District says feedback gathered from the public survey will help shape future recommendations and possible improvements for the plaza space. The information will eventually be presented to council as part of a broader analysis.

While specific upgrades have not yet been announced, the conversation has already sparked local interest around what kind of public space Lynn Valley residents want in the future.
