From End of the Line to the Pro Rink

December 4, 2025

Hannah Miller once worked the counter at End of the Line General Store in Lynn Valley. Locals remember her pulling espresso shots and chatting with hikers. Now she skates under bright arena lights as a pro hockey player in the new Professional Women’s Hockey League, playing for Vancouver. Her story feels close to home because it started here.

Miller grew up in North Vancouver and played her early hockey in B.C. She later headed to the NCAA, where she spent four seasons at St. Lawrence University. She finished her college career with 123 points in 124 games. She was named to the Second-Team All-ECAC twice and served as team captain. Her steady climb never came with noise or flash—just consistency.

After graduating, she took a path most players never imagine. She joined the KRS Vanke Rays, a team based in Shenzhen, China. She spent five seasons with the organization and won two ZhHL championships. That experience eventually led her to represent China at the 2022 Winter Olympics in Beijing, where she scored the host country’s first goal of the Games. She later won gold at the 2022 Division 1B World Championship and was named Best Forward. Few athletes have carried two nations’ jerseys in one career.

Miller returned to North America with the launch of the PWHL. She first signed with Toronto and put up strong numbers over two seasons. In June 2025, she signed a three-year deal with the Vancouver Goldeneyes as a free agent. Speaking about coming home, she said, “to come back and be in Vancouver and playing professionally, it’s a dream come true.” For anyone who has ever stood in line for coffee at the End of the Line Store, the moment feels full circle.

Today, kids in Lynn Valley can point to someone who grew up on their trails, served sandwiches at their café, and now plays in a professional league on home ice. Miller’s story is not loud, but it’s grounded. It shows how ambition can leave the neighbourhood, travel the world, and still find its way back to the mountains that first shaped it.
