Operating in Lynn Valley since 1992

Zazou has always managed to combine its downtown flair with down-home charm. Since moving to Lynn Valley Village, both qualities have been showcased in abundance. Here’s a peek into our chat with Bruce and John.

So what do customers like about Zazou?
Our guests feel that we are a friendly (non-pompous), trusted, progressive, healthy, environmentally conscious business.  And they like that we are a strong contributor to our community.

And what do you like about them?
We love each guest’s humour, eye for fashion, ability to relax and enjoy!  We wouldn’t be here without them…truly our guest is the boss.

Can you give us a tip from the biz?
Here’s two: If you change the way you look at things, the things you look at change.  And always use professional retail home care products…they really do make a remarkable difference!

Can you tell us some of your other ventures and accomplishments?
We have raised over $250,000 for a variety of charities.  We were the winner of the 2012 ‘Business Excellence’ award from Contessa National Salon & Spa awards.  We were a finalist in 2011 for the North Vancouver Chamber of Commerce community contribution award.  In 2011 we were voted ‘Best Salon’ & ‘Best Stylist’ in the Outlook.  And we were a finalist in the community contribution from Contessa, outstanding contribution with Aveda; and outstanding achievement with Wella Canada.

Hobbies?
Life!

We see you in the Lynn Valley Day parade every year (great outfits!) What can you tell us about your community involvement?
This is our motto – Community focused, globally minded – and we live it daily.

Tell us something we don’t know about you, Bruce.
I have been bungee jumping at Victoria Falls in Africa, the highest jump in the world!

What’s the business taught you?
Wow, there is too much to say!
As Zig Ziglar says “You can get everything in life that you want if you will just help enough other people get what they want.”

Future plans?
To have multiple locations with a trusted, progressive, healthy, household brand.

Any advice for other companies?
Many young companies dont’ reach maturity because they either don’t support the creative spirit with structure and process, or they go too far and stifle that spirit with over-developed beauacracy.
